Google is making regular updates in its products. Especially when it comes to SEO, Google always surprises us with some new features. Whether is Algorithm updates or any new advancement in existing features. Recently Google has introduced 2 new features in its search console.
Two new Improvements:
Google has added two new improvements in GSC that will be more useful for our reporting:
- Regular Expression Filter (Regex)
- Revamped Comparison Mode
Regex Filters: GSC now supports Regex filters which is now helpful in creating reports using complex queries and page-based filters. Previously Google was not supporting complex queries.
Check this example by Google:
“For instance, let's say your company is called 'cats and dogs but is sometimes also abbreviated as 'cats & dogs' or even 'c&d'. You can use a regex filter to capture all of your branded queries by defining the regex filter: cats and dogs|cats & dogs|c&d
To use the new regex filter, create a query or page filter, select the dropdown menu, and select Custom. To learn more, visit the regex filters help center page.”

Revamped Comparison Mode: Earlier when we were using comparison mode, on selecting more than one metric, the table was not displaying a comparison column with a relative difference. But now Google has started to display the difference between the compared fields.
